Oracle DBA

SPECIFIC DUTIES - Essential (employee MUST be able to execute): Responsible for ensuring availability and performance of the databases that support the system. Provide leadership and expertise in the operational effectiveness of the E-Business Suite system which includes; upgrading, patching, cloning, installation, high availability, rapid recovery, performance turning, capacity planning, and disaster recovery Perform database administration activities such as performance tuning, backup and recovery, and maintaining the Oracle E-business Suite and 9i databases. Work with the team to ensure that the associated hardware resources allocated to the databases are sufficient, and to ensure high availability and optimum performance. To proactively monitor the database infrastructure to ensure secure services with minimum unplanned downtime. Responsible for providing trend analysis to the IT management team to enable them to make informed decisions regarding resource management. Responsible for problem escalation to Oracle Development team and third parties as appropriate. Responsible for improvement and maintenance of the databases to include rollout and upgrades. Responsible for implementation and release of database changes as submitted by the development team Participate in project to design and implement upgrade from Oracle 11i E-Business Suite to R12 Review support and project requests to estimate time and cost required to accomplish project. OTHER WORK TO BE PERFORMED: Build technical depth of team by mentoring, developing and guiding other IT team members. Upgrade professional and technical skills and keep current of new Oracle tools, best practice standards, and releases. Other duties as assigned.

DESIRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Education: BS in Computer Science or Information systems, or equivalent work experience. Oracle Certified DBA. Experience: Minimum of 5 yrs. IT experience with following specific experience:4 yrs of Oracle applications administration, 2 yrs of Oracle 11i or R12 applications administration, and 2 yrs of UNIX administration. Minimum of 2 years experience working in a mid-tier organization. Technical Experience: Hands on experience with Oracle 11.5.10, and 12i applications including; Financials, Supply Chain Management, Manufacturing, Quality, Shop Floor management, Order Entry and Inventory. Experience installing, upgrading, cloning, and patching Oracle 11i and R12 applications. Hands on experience with a multi-tier Oracle Applications environment. Experience performance tuning, setting up highly available and securing Oracle applications. Oracle Applications system administration experience including Concurrent manager configuration. Strong understanding of the Oracle technology stack and architecture for Oracle Applications 11.5.10/12i. Strong database concepts and fundamentals. Hands on experience with Oracle 9i/10g database management systems and overall Oracle technical environment. Solid UNIX system administration fundamentals. Ability to create SQL & shell scripts for automation of tasks. Preferred Technical Experience: Experience with DBA support for custom application development efforts. Experience with MSCA and/or ASCP modules. Experience with Oracle 10gAS Stack including: Single Sign On integration with the Oracle E-Business Suite, Oracle Discoverer and Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition +. Experience in 24x7 environments. Other Qualifications: Strong desire and aptitude to learn new technologies and additional Oracle solutions. Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills. Strong analytical and problem solving skills. Strong leadership skills and ability to work effectively under pressure.
