Kopin Announces Expansion of Taunton Production Center

TAUNTON, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 13, 2007--One of the world's leading providers of microdisplays for consumer and military electronics is expanding its Massachusetts manufacturing operations. Kopin(R) Corporation (NASDAQ: KOPN) today announced plans to enlarge its production facility located in Taunton, Massachusetts to support the growing demand for its display and heterojunction bipolar transistors (HBTs) products. The announcement was made during a ceremony at Kopin's world headquarters in Taunton to mark a new $3 million state development grant.

"The grant represents a partnership between Kopin and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to create jobs and maintain Massachusetts as a leader in high-tech manufacturing," said Dr. John C.C. Fan, Kopin president and CEO. "This grant is a continuation of our strategy which includes federal, state and Kopin resources and revenues to develop leading-edge display products for use in consumer and military applications. I would like to thank Senator Marc Pacheco, Representative James Fagan, and Mr. Mitch Adams, Director of the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative, and their staffs for working with Kopin to make this grant possible. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Congressman Barney Frank and his staff for their continuing efforts in helping Kopin obtain federal funding to develop displays for the military's night vision systems."

The state grant will be used for the construction of clean room facilities, infrastructure improvements and a job training program. Kopin expects to increase its workforce over the next five years and beyond. The new expansion project is slated for completion later this year.
