Invited Talk to Showcase New Advances and Applications of
Microdisplays
TAUNTON, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 17, 2007--Kopin Corporation
(Nasdaq: KOPN), the largest U.S. manufacturer of microdisplays for
commercial and military applications, today announced that President
and Chief Executive Officer Dr. John C.C. Fan will deliver a keynote
address Tuesday, September 18 at Eurodisplay 2007, an annual
international research conference hosted by the Society for
Information Display (SID). Dr. Fan's speech, "Emergence of
Microdisplays: New Exciting Advances and Applications," will center on
recent scientific breakthroughs in microdisplay technology and how
these achievements are reshaping everything from portable
entertainment devices to sophisticated military systems. Eurodisplay
2007 will take place Sept. 17-20 at the Office Building of The Russian
Academy of Sciences in Moscow, Russia.
"Microdisplay technology is enabling an unprecedented level of
mobility, which we call 'Big Pictures on the Go,' that is
fundamentally changing the way we see and communicate information,"
Dr. Fan said. "Kopin has played a pivotal role in establishing its
transmissive liquid crystal display (LCD) as the standard
microdisplays for high-volume, full-color product applications, and I
am excited about the range of emerging opportunities for our
technology in the future."
Dr. Fan's keynote address will highlight Kopin's proprietary
CyberDisplay manufacturing process. Protected by more than 100
patents, the CyberDisplay microdisplay employs the same architecture
as large LCD TV screens to create full-color displays, but is capable
of scaling the high-definition TV to the size of a postage stamp. As
the only transmissive LCD based on single-crystal silicon integrated
circuit technology, Kopin's CyberDisplay enables simpler and thinner
optics for compact display modules. These modules are ideal for video
on the go, military systems and other applications that demand easy
portability.
"In just a few years, Kopin's CyberDisplay technology has ushered
in revolutionary new products across all segments of the market," Dr.
Fan said. "Today, our commitment to innovation remains as strong as
ever. We continue to achieve breakthroughs in size and performance,
enabling 'digital eyes' that extend the ability of human eyes to see
in new and dramatic ways."
