Kopin Introduces New Revolutionary Weapon Sight Products at the US Army’s AUSA Convention

Company Launches New Augmented Reality Fire Control System

WESTBOROUGH, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Kopin® Corporation (NASDAQ: KOPN), the largest U.S. manufacturer of display systems for mobile consumer and defense applications, will introduce the Precision Acquisition and Targeting System (PATS) at the Association of the United States Army (AUSA) Annual Meeting & Exposition on October 13-15 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, DC (booth #1968).

“The PATS unit is a fully integrated fire control system that converts most fielded optical sights into smart, lethal targeting systems,” stated Michael Presz, Kopin’s Vice President of Government Programs and Special Projects. “Incorporating a state-of-the art Laser Range Finder, Ballistic Calculator and Overlay Display, our PATS unit increases the accuracy of shooters using most fixed or variable magnification weapon sights. The unit simply clips on in front of the existing weapon sight and provides a precision ballistic solution which is day/night readable. PATS allows the government to greatly improve the performance of its existing inventory of fielded weapon sights by reducing engagement times and improving the probability of hits at ranges out to 600 meters.”

Key to the PATS solution is the application of Kopin’s Augmented Reality (AR) Weapon Sight Technology. This patented technology provides ultra-high brightness levels typical of larger systems seen in aviation-based Helmet Mounted Displays (HMDs) while being powered by a single CR-123 battery. The AR Weapon Sight technology allows the user to target through the sight while viewing overlaid symbology even in the brightest daylight conditions. The PATS unit has the potential to convert every green recruit into a precision shooter, increasing lethality while significantly reducing training and ammunition costs.

“The PATS clip-on weapon sight provides a revolutionary capability to our troops at a time of stressed budgets and a shrinking force,” stated Dr. John C. C. Fan, President and CEO of Kopin Corporation. “The PATS solution allows the U.S. Army to significantly increase survivability while leveraging the significant investments made over the past several years in fielded optical sights. Given the current global unrest the PATS system should prove to be a welcome resource to those who protect our freedom.”
