Senior Production Technician

Location: Westborough, MA

Positions Available: 4 – First Shift Positions

General Function: The Senior Production Technician is a highly trained and skilled individual with the ability to follow engineering and production documentation to assemble, troubleshoot, and repair multiple Kopin Mechanical-Optical assembly products with minimal oversight.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Follow sketch assembly instructions, processes, and procedures
  • Perform simple and complex optical and mechanical component bonding operations
  • Program, test, and troubleshoot various system components
  • Report problems with quality, processes, equipment, and materials to manager
  • Perform checks of in-process and final assembles and subassemblies to ensure adherence to approved quality standards
  • Create, review, and approve suggested changes to documentation, designs, and processes to contribute to the process improvements and maintenance activities to sustain the high-quality standards required
  • Coordinate with Process Engineering and Production supervisory personnel to identify best practices and problematic procedures to improve manufacturing documentation and generate Engineering Change Requests
  • Assist Engineering with creating and modifying various forms of technical documentation
  • Draft procedures and manufacturing instructions
  • Complete records and build documentation and corrective action requests related to production
  • Provide hands-on training to coworkers as needed
  • Create and assign Production Work Orders for Production

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Cleanroom experience required
  • Manual assembly experience for medium and high volumes required
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of opto-mechanical assembly experience strongly preferred
  • IPC-610 and IPC-620 certification preferred
  • Follow production drawings, sample assemblies, or procedures
  • Position and align parts (including optical components) in specified relationship to each other in a fixture or by hand
  • Crimp, cement, press fit, or perform similar operations to join or secure parts
  • Connect wires to printed circuit boards and routes wires between individual components and assemblies using connectors, terminals, and hardware
  • Perform intermediate assembly tasks, such as cleaning, epoxy bonding, etc.
  • Use a variety of measurement devices such as calipers and height gauges
  • Perform next step inspections to identify process errors and ensure parts and assemblies meet production specifications and standards
  • Computer literacy
  • Bachelors or Associates degree in technology or related field is preferred
