POSITION: Senior Supply Chain Manager
REPORTING TO: Vice President, Operations
LOCATION: Westborough, MA

GENERAL FUNCTION:

The Senior Supply Chain Manager is responsible for leading sourcing, contracting, risk management, and supplier development activities across multiple commercial and U.S. aerospace and defense product lines. Reporting to the Vice President of Operations, this role establishes long-term supply chain strategies, negotiates complex agreements, ensures compliance with applicable U.S. Government regulations, and oversees supply chain readiness in support of both production and development programs.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and execute long-term sourcing strategies for multiple product families, ensuring supply continuity for aerospace-grade materials, optics, electronics, and complex assemblies.
  • Lead complex negotiations for contracts, long-term agreements (LTAs), pricing, schedules, warranty terms, and strategic supplier partnerships.
  • Implement supplier segmentation models and oversee strategic commodity management.
  • Drive supplier qualification, performance management, and risk mitigation in alignment with industry standards used by DoW prime contractors.
  • Ensure compliance with FAR, DFARS, ITAR/EAR, DPAS, counterfeit parts prevention, government flow‑downs, and audit requirements including CPSR and AS9100.
  • Collaborate closely with Engineering, Program Management, Quality, Operations, and Finance as a key member of cross-functional Integrated Product Teams (IPTs).
  • Support proposal activities with material strategies, BOEs, lead-time modeling, and risk assessments.
  • Lead MRP/SIOP planning efforts, including forecasting, safety stock strategies, inventory optimization, and demand/supply balancing.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the supply base through Lean, Six Sigma, and root-cause problem solving.
  • Establish and manage KPIs for suppliers including OTD, quality, cost, risk indicators, capacity readiness, and strategic alignment.
  • Oversee the execution of supplier recovery plans, qualification efforts, and dual/alternate sourcing strategies to enhance resiliency.
  • Develop and lead a high-performing procurement and supply chain team, fostering accountability, growth, and operational excellence.

REQUIRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • Kopin is a defense contractor and is subject to International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). You must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident (green card holder) to be considered for this position.
  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Business, Engineering, Operations, or related field or equivalent.
  • 7–10+ years of supply chain experience in aerospace, defense, military electronics, or high‑reliability manufacturing environments.
  • Demonstrated expertise negotiating complex contracts and LTAs with strategic suppliers.
  • Deep understanding of U.S. Government regulations including FAR, DFARS, ITAR/EAR, DPAS, and associated audit requirements.
  • Strong knowledge of ERP/MRP systems such as SAP or Oracle and extensive experience with SIOP, forecasting, and material planning.
  • Proven ability to operate in cross-functional IPT environments supporting program schedules, risk management, and cost targets.
  • An approachable, hands-on, and “roll up the sleeves” style
  • Excellent Analytical skills with high attention to detail required
  • Proven track record of individual accomplishment, contribution, and team-based success
  • Strong computer skills in MS Office, MS Project, or equivalent
  • Self-motivated with a high sense of urgency, resourcefulness, and adaptability
  • Required travel approximately 10% to 15%. This may include international travel.

PREFERRED JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience supporting EVMS programs and proposal activities.
  • Lean/Six Sigma Green Belt or higher certification.
  • Background in optics, displays, semiconductors, microelectronics, or defense hardware.
  • Experience developing should-cost models and cost/price analysis.
  • Experience managing suppliers through NPI, LRIP, production ramp, and sustainment phases.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Able to lift 15 pounds unassisted
  • Must be able to walk to access all areas of the facility including climbing stairs
  • Must be able to follow appropriate gowning procedures to enter a clean room (hairnet, safety glasses, clean room apparel/lab coats, latex gloves)
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally (when required)

**The salary range for this position is $130k to $165k annually, plus bonus**
